Disclaimer

Nothing here is advice, everything here is an estimate, and none of it predicts the future.

This is not financial advice

Nothing on MoneyVision — no article, no tool, no number either produces, no example and no answer to a question — is financial advice, investment advice, trading advice, legal advice, accounting advice or tax advice. It is general information and education, written for a general audience, and it takes no account of your circumstances, your objectives, your other holdings, your tax position, your time horizon or your ability to bear a loss.

Reading this site creates no advisory, fiduciary or professional relationship. Nobody here is authorised or regulated by any financial regulator, and nothing published here is a personal recommendation to buy, sell, hold or do anything else with any asset.

Before you act on anything you read here, take advice from someone qualified and regulated in your own country who knows your situation. If a decision matters enough to look it up, it matters enough to check it with someone who is accountable for the answer.

Every figure here is an estimate

Any figure this site produces comes from a simplified model. It answers the question it was asked under the assumptions it states — and every page states them, because a model whose assumptions are hidden is worse than no model.

Things these models generally do not include:

  • the spread you actually pay, slippage, partial fills and the price you truly get;
  • every fee a venue charges, including withdrawal, network and financing fees;
  • liquidation mechanics, margin calls, auto-deleveraging and exchange risk;
  • tax in your jurisdiction, in any respect whatsoever;
  • inflation, currency movement and the possibility that a counterparty simply fails.

Results are rounded for display, so a figure shown here and a figure shown by an exchange or a tax return will rarely agree to the last decimal. Treat every output as an estimate to sanity check, never as a settlement figure, a valuation or a tax computation. Anything tax-related here is an explanation, not tax software: cost basis rules, matching rules and reporting requirements differ by country and change, and only a qualified adviser in your jurisdiction can tell you what applies to you.

Risk warning

Cryptoassets are high risk. Their value is volatile and can fall as fast as it rises, and it can go to zero. Leverage multiplies losses as readily as gains and can cost you more than you put in. Investments of every kind can lose value.

Cryptoassets are generally not covered by deposit-protection or investor-compensation schemes. If a platform fails, is hacked, freezes withdrawals or turns out to have been dishonest, there is usually no compensation scheme to make you whole, and often no realistic legal remedy either. You should be prepared to lose the entire amount.

Past performance does not indicate future results

Any historical figure, backtest, chart, scenario or worked example on this site describes what happened, not what will happen. Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Nothing here is a forecast or a promise of a return.

There are no guaranteed returns anywhere on this site, and there is no method here for making money quickly or reliably. Any claim of that shape that you see attached to this site — in an advertisement, in a message, on social media — did not come from us.

Accuracy and currency

Every effort is made to be accurate, and mistakes will still get through. Markets, protocols, fee schedules, tax rules and regulations change constantly, and an article that was correct on the day it was written may be wrong by the time you read it. Every article carries a publication date and, where it has been revised, a revision date; check them.

If you find an error, please report it through the contact page. Corrections are made to the page itself rather than quietly, and material corrections are noted on the page.

Third parties, advertising and links

This site carries advertising, and neither the operator nor this site selects, endorses or vouches for the individual advertisements shown. An advertisement for a financial product is not a recommendation of it, and no advertiser has any influence over what is written here.

Links to exchanges, protocols, documentation, data sources and other sites are provided so you can check the source. They are not endorsements, and what happens on those sites is governed by their terms, not ours.

Conflicts of interest

There are no affiliate links, referral links or paid placements on this site. If that ever changes, the disclosure will appear on the page itself, immediately before the link and in plain sight — not buried here. Where the author holds, or has any other interest in, an asset or a company an article discusses, the article will say so.

Where you are matters

This site is published from one country and read from many. Financial and tax rules are national, and some of what is described here may be restricted, regulated differently or unlawful where you live. Nothing on this site is an offer, an invitation or an inducement to anyone in a jurisdiction where making one would require authorisation, and it is your responsibility to know the rules that apply to you.

The decision is yours

Do your own research. Verify the numbers. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose. The operator of this site accepts no liability for any loss arising from a decision you make after reading it — see the terms of use for the full position.
