Bitcoin holds above $76,000 as crypto sell-off leaves traders cautious

Bitcoin has steadied near $76,100 after a sharp drop, while XRP is down about 17.4% over 30 days. Cautious demand matters for anyone watching crypto prices.

Bitcoin paused its slide over the weekend. After a few sharp sessions, its price settled above $76,000. On Saturday morning, BTC traded near $76,100, up about 0.6% on the day.

This quiet spell could fade. Capital that a durable recovery would need is still flowing out of the market, and the bounce has attracted few new buyers.

XRP also broke down from a price channel, a band in which a price moves between two trend lines. That break has put $0.99 in focus as a level traders are watching. XRP has also struggled to win back nearby resistance, a price zone where sellers have tended to appear.

Fidelity's Jurrien Timmer has said he still prefers bitcoin over gold despite the sell-off. Analysts are also asking how far BTC, Ether and XRP could fall if the selling gets worse.
