The US sanctioned eight Canadian money firms over alleged crypto links to Iran. The move came from the US government's sanctions office, known as OFAC.

OFAC also runs a sanctions search tool. It can be used to check crypto wallets and company names against its records. A clean result from the tool is not a clearance, so users should not treat it as proof that a wallet or firm is safe.
